Professional background

Emma has 20 years of experience in helping organisations address their most pressing talent challenges. She specialises in applying the science of psychology to improving performance at all levels. Emma has a breadth of experience, having worked in professional services organisations with a range of public (emergency services, councils, government departments, education) and private (financial services, telecoms, pharma, manufacturing) sector clients across her career.

Prior to working for Matthew Syed Consulting, Emma spent eight years at SHL as part of the Global Professional Services team. She worked with local and international clients and teams to successfully design, scope, deliver and measure the impact of large talent selection and development projects.

Throughout her career, she has worked with a range of psychometric assessments, such as ability, personality, motivation, situational judgement, and simulations. She has designed selection processes, including assessment centres, for large organisations.

Emma holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and Master of Psychology (Organisational) from the University of New South Wales, Australia. She is a Registered Psychologist in the UK with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and is a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
